“Social media addiction is a silent killer of productivity.”
– Cal Newport

As I stood there, bearing witness to the wonder in front of me. I began to think about all the power and force of the river simply gone into the unknown. Away from my home. My Habits. My Job. I couldn’t help but relate this river to the biggest addiction of my life. Social Media.
As a creative I feel all my emotions, my aspirations and day to day life is effected by the device I carry in my pocket. I find myself going back time after time scrolling looking for something to spark something. The small amount of dopamine that the algorithm gives me keeps me coming back for more.
The sheer amount of force and energy I have and can offer the world is just lost on my addiction to social media.
I went to school for advertising at George Brown College. As a young adult, I was opened up to the world of subconsciously getting into a persons head, their habits, their dreams and wants.
Currently social media and the websites we use have taken away control of what we want to see, what we want to do and how we want feel. As a creative its time I take back control. It’s time I use my powers to give to platforms and initiatives that can make a change in my community and not just garner a like from a stranger I will never meet.
My goal with this website and blog is to have a place where people can be without ads, I think back to the days when we went to peoples websites and just got to see what we wanted to see.
Come with me on the path back to creative freedom
